Auf knapp 700 Seiten lässt Bruce Springsteen seine Jugend in Freehold, NJ Revue passieren. Der "Boss" erinnert sich ausserdem an seine Anfänge als Musiker und den Aufstieg der legendären E Street Band. "Born to Run" erscheint im Heyne Verlag und wurde von Teja Schwaner, Alexander Wagner und Urban Hofstetter ins Deutsche übersetzt.

Mit "Chapter And Verse" erschien am 23. September 2016 - als offizielles Begleitalbum zur Autobiografie "Born To Run" - ein Werk mit achtzehn Songs aus Bruce Springsteens langjähriger Karriere. Der Longplayer enthält Aufnahmen aus den Jahren 1966 bis 2012, fünf der achtzehn Stücke sind bislang unveröffentlicht. Springsteen selbst wählte die Lieder passend zu den Themen und Abschnitten der Autobiografie.
 
Die ersten beiden Stücke dieser Sammlung stammen von "The Castiles" - Bruce Springsteens erster Band in den 1960er Jahren. Bei den Aufnahmen von "Steel Mill" und der "Bruce Springsteen Band" wirkten bereits die Musiker mit, die später Teil der legendären E Street Band werden sollten. Die Solo Demos von "Henry Boy" und "Growin' Up" wurden 1972 aufgenommen, kurz bevor Bruce Springsteen mit den Arbeiten an seinem Debütalbum "Greetings From Asbury Park, NJ" begann.
 
Die Songs folgen seinem musikalischen Werdegang von den Anfangstagen an, parallel zu den Geschehnissen im Buch.

Companion album to Bruce Springsteen’s autobiography includes 5 unreleased tracks

‘Chapter and Verse,’ the audio companion to Bruce Springsteen’s extraordinary forthcoming autobiography, will be released Sept. 23 on Columbia Records. The career-spanning compilation will be released four days before Simon & Schuster publishes ‘Born to Run.’ Five of the album’s 18 tracks have not been previously released.

Springsteen selected the songs on ‘Chapter and Verse’ to reflect the themes and sections of ‘Born to Run.’ The compilation begins with two tracks from The Castiles, featuring a teenaged Springsteen on guitar and vocals, and ends with the title track from 2012’s ‘Wrecking Ball.’ The collected songs trace Springsteen’s musical history from its earliest days, telling a story that parallels the one in the book.

Recordings from Steel Mill and The Bruce Springsteen Band feature musicians who would go on to play in The E Street Band. Solo demos of “Henry Boy” and “Growin’ Up” were cut in 1972 shortly before Springsteen began recording his debut album, ‘Greetings From Asbury Park, N.J.’

‘Chapter and Verse’ will be available as a single CD and double LP, as well as via digital download and streaming. The package will include lyrics and rare photos. ‘Chapter & Verse’ will be available for preorder on Friday, July 29.

Springsteen’s gripping 500-page autobiography, ‘Born to Run,’ will be released internationally Sept. 27, published in hardcover, e-book, and audio editions by Simon & Schuster in the United States, United Kingdom, Canada, Australia, and India, as well as other publishers around the world. Springsteen has been privately writing the autobiography over the past seven years. "Chapter and Verse" konnte sich in den "Scottish Album Charts" auf Platz 1 festsetzen. In Australien, Österreich, Irland, Italien, Schweden und England wurde das Werk kurz nach seiner Veröffentlichung auf Platz 2 geführt.
 
In den US Billboard Album Charts wurde "Chapter and Verse" am 3. Oktober 2016 auf Platz 5 gelistet.
 
Auch in Belgien (# 4), Dänemark (# 10), Holland (# 5), Frankreich (# 9), Norwegen (# 3), Portugal (# 3), Spanien (# 4), der Schweiz (# 6) und Deutschland (# 4) landete das Album in den Top Ten.
