In der renommierten Reihe VH1 Storytellers erzählen Superstars die Hintergründe und Entstehungsgeschichten einiger ihrer wichtigsten Songs. Bruce Springsteen erweist sich in diesem Kontext als geborener Entertainer.
Am 4. April 2005 geht The Boss im "Two River Theater" in Red Bank, NJ auf die kleine Bühne, um einem handverlesenen Publikum fast 100 Minuten lang acht Lieder inklusive ausführlicher Erläuterungen zu präsentieren
Technisch ist die DVD mit einem 5.1-Surround-Sound und wahlweise zuschaltbaren deutschen Untertiteln ausgestattet. Als Bonus erwartet den Zuschauer noch ein "Question-&-Answer-Special", in dem Springsteen den Konzertbesuchern Rede und Antwort steht.

On Tuesday, September 6, Columbia Music Video will release an expanded and completely re-edited DVD version of Bruce Springsteen's historic solo 'VH1 Storytellers' concert. First aired on VH1 April 23, the stunning solo performance is nearly two hours long and features a total of 8 complete Springsteen songs including "Devils + Dust" and "Jesus Was an Only Son" from his recent acclaimed album 'Devils & Dust.' 'VH1 Storytellers' also contains Springsteen's detailed comments, introductions and anecdotes on the songs' origins, as well as a previously unseen question and answer session between the musician and his fans.

'VH1 Storytellers' features Springsteen accompanying himself on piano, guitar, and harmonica. Patti Scialfa joins him on vocals for "Brilliant Disguise." 

Taped at Two River Theater in Red Bank, NJ on April 4, the performance earned critical nods. AP said, "Over the course of the evening, Springsteen was funny, glib, self-deprecating, chatty and occasionally revealing... The stage patter gave way to some magnificent musical moments." 

The Newark Star-Ledger said, "a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to gain a deeper understanding of his songs, and hear some fine acoustic versions of them in the process... a must-see." 

Recorded in high definition, 'VH1 Storytellers' includes a 5.1 Surround Sound mix and a PCM Stereo mix. 

Springsteen's previous DVD, 2003's 'Live In Barcelona' (Columbia Records), was certified quadruple platinum by the RIAA in April, while 2001's 'Live in New York City' is certified triple platinum.
