LEGENDARY 1979 NO NUKES CONCERTS Im März 1979 ereignete sich im Kernkraftwerk “Three Mile Island” bei Harrisburg, PA ein Reaktorunfall der Stufe 5. Im Block 2 des Atomkraftwerks kam es am 28. März 1979 zu einer partiellen Kernschmelze, in deren Verlauf etwa ein Drittel des Reaktorkerns schmolz. Wenige Wochen später gründeten die Musiker Jackson Browne, Graham Nash, Bonnie Raitt und John Hall mit dem amerikanischen Journalisten Harvey Wasserman die gemeinnützige Organisation “Musicians United for Safe Energy” (MUSE) und protestierten gegen die Atomkraft. Im September 1979 veranstaltete “MUSE” fünf Benefizkonzerte im Madison Square Garden in New York City. Unter anderem beteiligten sich daran Jackson Browne, Bonnie Raitt, Tom Petty, Graham Nash und John Hall. Weil Bruce Springsteen mit seinem vierten Longplayer “Darkness On The Edge of Town” Platz 5 der Billboard Charts erreicht hatte und im Grossraum New York auf eine riesige Fangemeinde zurückgreifen konnte, wurde er zu zwei Shows am 21. und 22. September 1979 eingeladen. Am ersten Abend – 21. September 1979 – performte die E Street Band zwölf Songs und spielte erstmals mit “The River” den Titelsong des anstehenden fünften Bruce Springsteen Studioalbums. Tags darauf – 22. September 1979 – gab Bruce Springsteen elf Songs zum Besten. Sony Music Entertainment hat am 21. Juli 2021 angekündigt, noch in diesem Herbst die beiden “No Nukes” Benefizkonzerte auf Audio CD inkl. DVD oder BluRay zu veröffentlichen. Die legendären 1979 No-Nukes-Konzerte von Bruce Springsteen und der E Street Band wurden bei den Benefizkonzerten von MUSE im September 1979 im Madison Square Garden in New York City aufgezeichnet. Die 2-CD Box enthält 13 Songs, die an zwei Nächten aufgeführt, neu gemixt und gemastert wurden, sowie eine DVD mit dem 13-Song-Konzertfilm, der aus Originalfilmmaterial neu geschnitten, restauriert und in HD abgemischt wurde. Das Paket enthält ein 24-seitiges Buch mit seltenen Fotos und Erinnerungsstücken, ein Essay, einen Vintage-Ticketumschlag, eine Ticketreproduktion und einen Aufkleber. Edited by longtime Springsteen collaborator Thom Zimny from the original 16mm film alongside remixed audio from Bob Clearmountain, "The Legendary 1979 No Nukes Concerts" represent the highest quality and best recorded Bruce Springsteen performances from an explosive, ascendant and rarely-filmed era of the E Street Band. "The Legendary 1979 No Nukes Concerts" film will be released in HD on physical formats November 19, including on two CD with DVD, two CD with Blu-Ray and two LP formats. The film will be available globally in HD for digital download on November 16 and digital rental on November 23.
